Instructions to Assessor:

All students must have observations/demonstrations completed for this unit of competency. The student must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role.
The learner must have completed one simulation prior to completion of this observation record. They must respond to the goals and aspirations of at least 1 older persVocational Placement start date:on in the workplace:

  • employing flexible, adaptable and person-centred approaches to empower the individual
  • recognising and responding appropriately to situations of risk or potential risk
  • using oral communication skills to maintain positive and respectful relationships

There must also be evidence that the student has performed the activities outlined in the performance criteria of this unit during a period of at least 120 hours of work in at least one aged care, home and community, disability or community service organisation.
If the student is on a vocational placement organised by Simple Solutions these hours must be recorded in the Student Logbook and Reflective Journal.
If the student is employed this evidence can be provided in the form of payslips where the starting date of the payslips are not before the date that the student completed the theory component of this unit. All payslips must be validated with the employer for authenticity.
All students must complete the reflective journal, even if employed.
If a Third Party Report is obtained the assessor must also complete observations as part of relevant simulations to validated the information provided by the Third Party and obtain direct evidence of competence.
